Designer Sightings

photophoto1

Just back from market in NYC and had to share our designer sightings!  First, we met the iconic Carolina Herrera.  Yes, she looks like she walked out of a magazine….so elegant and beautiful. I have to admit I was a little starstruck! Her classic collection with a modern twist was just as stunning for resort ’15 as it is every season. Fun facts about Ms. Herrera: She started her clothing line at the suggestion of her friend Diana Vreeland, the then Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. And, I can hardly believe this, she is 75 years old…she doesn’t look anywhere near this age….even in person.
Then on our next day, Deb and I had an appointment at Wes Gordon and there he was. How fun was it to walk in his showroom and get a chance to meet him after we both just read an article about him in Vogue?! His collection was fabulous (as was he)…infusing luxury and timeless sophistication with a young, modern edge. Fun fact: He worked with both Oscar and Tom Ford before launching his own collection in 2009.

What an amazing night Leigh’s had partnering with The Dwelling Place for There’s No Place Like Home Fashion Show. Leigh’s, Fitzgerald’s Men’s Store and Snapdragon Boutique (children’s clothing) styled community leaders (our volunteer models) to raise funds for two important housing communities for women and children who are either homeless or victims of domestic abuse….Liz’s House and The Bridge Street Place. Leigh’s is committed to assisting organizations whose mission is to provide services to women and children and we couldn’t be more proud of being a part of this great event. Thank you to everyone involved in this event and to all our guests who attended…you made this evening such a success!

It was so great to be back in New York for market…I definitely have been looking forward to seeing what our designers are going to be treating us to for Fall ’14. Yes, you read that correctly…Fall ’14! The colors, textures and silhouettes are dreamy. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves! We are receiving new spring goodies in every day (that you will L-O-V-E). Leigh’s knows that fashion girls are in need of a ray of sunshine for their closet right now regardless of the temperature outside. However, I can now confidently assure you that 2014 is going to be an incredible year for fashion…both spring and fall. I know I just put your mind at ease, didn’t I?! You and I will both need to prepare…time to purge the closet and make sure that we both have plenty of room for all of our new clothes and shoes that we will be bringing home this year!
