This week at Leigh’s we have several trunk shows taking place, two of them being: Stephen Dweck and Zang Toi. Above you will see photographs from each trunk show, all jewelry is Stephen Dweck and all clothing is Zang Toi.

We are loving the lush furs, glittery knits, and hand beaded designs from Zang Toi, a line that is based out of New York. His pieces are incredibly versatile while still completely unique in their own ‘Zang Toi’ kind of way. Stephen Dweck is also from New York. His designs are far from ordinary and have kept his loyal clientele coming back for more every season.

Both of these trunk shows will continue until tomorrow night!

Lots of Love,

Leigh’s

2014….Thank You!

Wow, I am amazed how quickly 2014 went by, but sometimes the best times always seem to move at a faster clip!  It was such a great year for Leigh’s and I want to thank you for making it so wonderful.  As you know, we are passionate about what we do; bringing the very best fashion the market has to offer right here to West Michigan for you…..our amazing customers.  You get it all from us….clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics and we love enhancing your own personal style all while delivering you an exceptional Leigh’s experience.  As I reflect on some of the new labels that we had in store for you in 2014, it makes me smile….Stella McCartney, Band of Outsiders, 10 Crosby Derek Lam, Derek Lam main collection, vintage Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Barbara Bui, Monique Lhuillier, Ella McHugh, Wes Gordon,Veil Cosmetics, Damone Roberts, Aerin and so many more.  With all this and all of your perennial favorites,  it might not surprise you when I share that we had another record year at Leigh’s and were once again voted one of the best women’s stores in Grand Rapids.  We are flattered and humbled by this.  We know there are a lot of choices out there and that you choose to support our local business not only allows us to be successful but means the world to us.  So, thank you.

We are also excited about what 2015 has in store….this is our 40th anniversary!  Yes, Larry Leigh founded the business in 1975.  My partners and I are also celebrating 10 years of owning the business and building the new store.  And…this will be our 10th anniversary of our signature runway presentation Couture for a Cure benefiting the Van Andel Institute (October 8…save the date).  We’re looking forward to celebrating these milestones with you through out the year.  Cheers to 2015!

Wow, what a busy week it was at Leigh’s. You are so supportive of our store and we appreciate that with the many choices you have for shopping that you choose to shop locally at Leigh’s. In return, we have always made a commitment to give back to our community. Wednesday evening we had two wonderful events we were involved with.

First, we partnered with Fitzgerald’s men store and Snapdragon children’s boutique for The Dwelling Place “Where Fashion Meets Art” fashion show held at the Goei Center. This event raises money for two of Dwelling Place’s housing communities: Liz’s House and Bridge Street Place. This housing is made available to women and children in need. We enjoyed working with our guest models (leaders in our community) to style them in the hottest fashion trends of the season. We are proud to assist in this event for such a worthwhile cause.

While all of that was happening at the Goei Center, part of our team was at GRAM. There we partnered with Kendall College of Art & Design to sponsor AIGA West Michigan’s Kate Spade event which featured speaker Katia Kuthie, Kate Spade’s Director of Creative Services. Hosted at the Grand Rapids Art Museum it was also the perfect venue for a fashion show that showcased Kendall Fashion Design student’s fashion creations from materials that had former uses and identities. Look at the pictures I’ve included in this post….how crazy talented are these students?! As you know we exclusively carry Kate Spade handbags, apparel and shoes in West Michigan, so it was so exciting to be a part of this event!

Thanks to my entire Leigh’s team for all their efforts in the making of these two very successful events. And thanks to The Dwelling Place and AIGA for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your special evening.

Naughty or Nice

naughtyoIt’s so much fun at Leigh’s during the holidays.  Santa’s sleigh (aka: UPS and Fed Ex truck) pulls up everyday outside our receiving door and delivers an assortment of fabulous surprises! It just makes me smile every time we open a box!

And then there’s our beautiful store….Patrick has our store glittering with holiday cheer from our amusing windows to our Merry and Bright Shop.  We must chat about our  front windows.  Patrick, of course, wanted to have us reminisce about something we have all contemplated from a very early age….were we naughty or nice this year and what will Santa bring us based on our behavioral tally sheet.  This picture gives you a glimpse of our windows: One window interprets naughty and the other nice.  I would love to hear which one you relate to?!   Could it be the “Bad Girl” window? Or, perhaps the “Good Girl” window?  Patrick cites a quote from Mae West to make our pondering of this more challenging, “Good girls go to heaven and bad girls go everywhere.”  Let’s admit that if we can be assured we will be getting a gift from Leigh’s this holiday season, we will honestly confess that being nice and a little naughty is just as fun as it sounds!
