This week all eyes are on jewelry designer, Eddie Borgo. We’ve carried Borgo’s unique designs for quite some time but we’ve recently selected pieces from his Pre-Fall 2015 collection, that you can see pictured above. Borgo received a lot of attention after both Madonna and M.I.A were seen wearing his jewelry in their, ‘Give me all your Lovin’ music video and as of recently, for his highly anticipated handbag collaboration with Target. Eddie’s use of pearls in his latest collection resulted in chic wearable pieces that still possess the ‘Eddie Borgo’ rock n’ roll/feminine vibe! Stop in the store and revamp your jewelry collection with the latest from Eddie Borgo!
We’ve combined two of our favorite summers trends, black and white stripes and a pop red, to create this week’s ‘Leigh’s Look’! A bodysuit is a easy way to guarantee your look stays on point and you don’t get the dreaded bump from tucking your shirt in, causing your ensemble to look frumpy. We choose one from the luxury hosiery line, Wolford, paired with a black and white striped maxi skirt, and black snakeskin pointy toe heels by DVF. Accessorized with all hand selected vintage Chanel pieces that we carry in our store! This look means business, but also demands a playful twirl at the same time!
Welcome to our new weekly blog segment, The Leigh’s Look! Every piece of clothing, jewelry, and footwear you see are from our store. This weeks’s theme is ‘Bohemian Babe’, we achieved the look by pairing high waisted wide leg pants with a cream colored v-neck shirt. Accessorized with a gold statement necklace, a raffia clutch, Ray Ban shades, and a very 70’s-like wedge sandal!
Today is the last day to get to view all of the beautiful designs by Michelle Marocco from her line Niyama by Marocco. Pictured above is just fraction of the jewelry that we have brought in the store! Michelle’s jewelry is inspired by her practice of vinyasa yoga. She describes her collection as earthy, yet elegant jewelry that speaks to the beauty of the human soul.
All of the jewelry is available for immediate purchase!
Wow, I am amazed how quickly 2014 went by, but sometimes the best times always seem to move at a faster clip! It was such a great year for Leigh’s and I want to thank you for making it so wonderful. As you know, we are passionate about what we do; bringing the very best fashion the market has to offer right here to West Michigan for you…..our amazing customers. You get it all from us….clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics and we love enhancing your own personal style all while delivering you an exceptional Leigh’s experience. As I reflect on some of the new labels that we had in store for you in 2014, it makes me smile….Stella McCartney, Band of Outsiders, 10 Crosby Derek Lam, Derek Lam main collection, vintage Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Barbara Bui, Monique Lhuillier, Ella McHugh, Wes Gordon,Veil Cosmetics, Damone Roberts, Aerin and so many more. With all this and all of your perennial favorites, it might not surprise you when I share that we had another record year at Leigh’s and were once again voted one of the best women’s stores in Grand Rapids. We are flattered and humbled by this. We know there are a lot of choices out there and that you choose to support our local business not only allows us to be successful but means the world to us. So, thank you.
We are also excited about what 2015 has in store….this is our 40th anniversary! Yes, Larry Leigh founded the business in 1975. My partners and I are also celebrating 10 years of owning the business and building the new store. And…this will be our 10th anniversary of our signature runway presentation Couture for a Cure benefiting the Van Andel Institute (October 8…save the date). We’re looking forward to celebrating these milestones with you through out the year. Cheers to 2015!
It’s time to indulge in a new handbag! I’m sure that’s music to your ears and most everyone will be compelled to comply with my directive (without any complaining)! However, I thought I might take a moment to give you a little insight into the fall trends for handbags. We are seeing structured silhouettes, texture and color-blocking. One of my favorite structured shapes is the trapeze with its signature hard bottom and short handles. Kate Spade did it really well this season (pic 3) and added texture and color-blocking with this fresh shape. What great looking bags! Texture can come in the form of quilting, embellishments, contrasting materials, decorative zippers, fur and more. Rachel Zoe (pic 1) and Rebecca Minkoff (pic 2) were right on trend this season with their assortments as you can see. By the way, this is our first season to have Rachel Zoe handbags in store and we are so excited…. each one has a total “wow” factor! Color-blocking adds visual interest to any handbag shape. There has been a tendency to be afraid of having multiple colors in your bag because of it not matching your shoes. This season, there is a definite trend to have your handbag contrast with your shoes….so don’t lose sleep over the matchy-matchy thing….just pick a handbag you love! Whether it’s a structured silhouette, tote, hobo, messenger bag or clutch; I know you will look fabulous carrying which ever new bag you select!
