How fun!  I received a call Monday afternoon from Local First wondering if they could come to our store and do a video shoot for a commercial.  They had asked 10 people in the community to tell them their favorite local retailer or local restaurant and Luisa Schumacher selected Leigh’s!  Local First director, Elissa Sangalli and cameraman, Chuck, arrived at our store and video taped Luisa answering questions about:  Why she selected Leigh’s?  Why shop locally?  If you could give one tip to help someone get started shopping locally what would it be?  Etc.  Luisa had great answers to all of the questions and was very complimentary of Leigh’s!  She is someone who is committed to supporting local retailers .  Thank you Luisa for selecting Leigh’s as your favorite local retailer!  The commercial will begin airing in January at Celebration Cinemas (a locally owned movie theatre) before the movie previews.  So you may see us or the other local retailers selected!

Leigh’s is partnering with Design 1 for a fashion event that will kick off Star 105.7’s 10th Annual Radiothon benefiting Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital foundation. The event will be held December 15th at Eve on the top floor of The B.O.B. Proceeds will benefit Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. A silent auction will begin at 6:30pm and guests will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and may purchase fifty-fifty raffle tickets.
At 7:30pm, the show will open with children who have been patients of the hospital modeling creative clothing designs by Lil’ Sprouts Clothing Co. Immediately following the children, Leigh’s will present a professional runway show featuring the latest in fashion trends. The show will conclude with a unique runway presentation by Design 1 Salon Spa which will show off an eclectic collection of hair and make-up styles.

Leigh’s is ready for you this holiday season with some simply “scentsational” fragrances!  YSL’s Parisienne and Idole d’Armani are new releases that we have added to our fragrance bar.  We also decided to let you have one stop shopping efficiencies and brought in men’s fragrances…YSL’s L’Homme, Marc Jacobs, Prada and John Varvatos.  So while you are selecting your newest perfume (or putting it on your holiday wish list), you can also decide what you want your man to wear!  My selection for my husband was L’Homme – love, love,love it!

Spring shoes and handbags have been arriving daily! We are excited to now be offering shoes from Aquatalia. Aquatalia has a reputation for great styling and fabulous comfort. I slipped on a pair and my feet felt dreamy! I think I could be on my feet 24/7…not that I want to try that anytime soon, but you know what I mean! We also have our tried and true favorites from Cole Haan, Stuart Weitzman, BCBG and Donald Pliner. I must say, our shoe selection looks amazing! Don’t make your feet wait too long for their new spring shoes…it’s going to be warm any day now (please let this be true) and they will want to be sporting new shoes!

This week is Fashion Week in New York City. We are thrilled to be going into market to bring back to Western Michigan the best fashion the market has to offer! I plan on taking lots of pictures and sharing them with you next week. One of the perks of being in market during Fashion Week, is being able to attend runway shows. My personal favorite is Pamella Roland which is designed by Grand Rapids native, Pamella DeVos. She always posts her runway video on her website, www.pamellaroland.com ….make sure you check it out!
