The WOW Dress May 7, 2012

What is a WOW dress?  This is a term I have developed on my own.  My definition – it identifies an after 5 dress that is over-the-top amazing, that is special, you feel fantastic when you wear it and, more than likely, it will garner you an abundance of compliments at a social gathering!  I personally love to order WOW dresses from the trunk shows we have at Leigh’s.  You get to see the designers whole collection and then pick your favorite, order it in your size and then next season when it arrives…it’s like Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, Happy 4th of July all wrapped up in one…. a  stunning cocktail dress or gown that takes your breath away, that you (and only you) have in your closet for the next great event here in West Michigan (Note:  We never sell a trunk show gown or cocktail dress twice.  Once you order it, it’s exclusively yours!)  Last fall, I had been at a gala and I was wearing an amazing Pamella Roland gown.  My friend, Meg Willit, complimented me on my gown and said, “I want a dress like that.”  Well, Meg, your wish is my command!  I invited her in for a Peggy Jennings trunk show and, of course, she fell in love with an incredible gown that was absolutely breath-taking!  Last weekend we were at the Make-A-Wish Gala which Meg had chaired and she wore her very special gown. She looked stunning and I had to have our picture taken so I could share with you:  I’m wearing Douglas Hannant and Meg has on Peggy Jennings.  I just love both of these dresses and Meg, WOW, you look FABULOUS and that is indeed a “WOW” dress!!!

Mother Of The Bride Trunk Show January 13, 2011

The Grand Rapids Art Museum’s Centennial Gala Saturday was an outstanding event!  The event raised over a million dollars for the museum and was the kick-off event to the much-anticipated Princess Diana exhibition.  The gala started at the JW Marriott with dinner and a program and then guests were shuttled over to the museum for dessert and a sneak peek at the exhibition.  Close to 700 people attended.  It certainly was the event of the season!  I couldn’t resist bringing my camera and taking pictures of several of the beautiful gowns that were purchased at Leigh’s.  I wish I could have had a chance to take pictures of everyone wearing a gown from Leigh’s, but the night just flew by!  Please feel free to forward me pictures that you took and I will gladly post them (rebecca@leighsfashions.com).  I also need to take a moment to thank my alterations team for making sure all of our customers were delighted with a perfectly fitted gown.  Our alterations team worked extra hours and did last-minute alts – up until 5:30pm the night of the event!!  You ladies are amazing – thank you!!

Look at this fabulous dress that just arrived.  The pearl necklace that you see is actually part of the dress!!  How easy does that make our lives?  No need to give any thought to what accessory you’ll wear – just slip on your dress and a pair of shoes and you’re ready for your night out!   Ahhh…easy!

How fun is it to be in the fashion business?!  Let me give you an example.  This bride came to our Douglas Hannant trunk show last fall and found the perfect dress for her destination wedding.  When she selected the dress, we all knew if would be beautiful on her.  But, when she sent us the pictures, it took our breath away.  How incredibly stunning does she look!?!   Her wedding took place in St. Martin – beautiful setting and, oh if you didn’t notice, aren’t they such a beautiful couple!  Wow!  We wish them a life of happiness together!

Our favorite thing to do at Leigh’s is to make our customer’s look their absolute best! Whether it’s a casual everyday look or for a special event, we love assisting you with your personal style. We had this wonderful picture e-mailed to us by our customer, Michelle Bassett.  It was her daughter’s wedding day and we not only helped her with her dress, but also her make-up – including make-up application the day of the event!  She put her trust in our team for this very special day and we were happy to help.   Doesn’t she look amazing!
