I’m depressed. How’s that for an attention getter? Just look at all of these beautiful shoes that we have in store this spring….one would think I would be over the moon about all of the possibilities for new shoe obtainment for my closet. Which would normally be the case, but I have a little problem. I sprained my ankle….its official. Over spring break I had a running accident and landed in a heap on the ground with a right ankle issue and skinned knees, shoulder and hands. Not necessarily a fashionable fall, I must admit. I refrained from seeing a doctor and instead spent spring break poolside with a bag of ice, Advil and margaritas (I know most of you know this story already, but I need to share with the rest of the readers). So, last week the swelling was down (not all the way, but manageable) and I decided it was time to start wearing spring shoes with heels….so I did. And guess what, my healing progress plateaued. Ugh! Of course, it didn’t help when I went to Ann Arbor this weekend and concluded my Saturday evening with dancing (When is the last time you went dancing? Seems like forever for me, so when the band is playing all your favorite music and your girlfriends say, “Hey let’s dance!”, you take some Advil and dance….even with a bum ankle). Yesterday, however, I was in urgent care getting my ankle examined….yes, I went backwards in my healing (imagine that!). Today, I am in an air splint with my tennis shoes on….for the next 7-10 days. My spring shoe obtainment is on hold….thus, my disappointed mood. That brings me to you….I may not be able to secure new shoes right now, but I can live vicariously through you and your shoe purchases….and I know I will be just as happy seeing my friends wearing fabulous new shoes as I would if they were on my own feet! The Killer Heel August 19, 2010
As I was thumbing through the September issue of Vanity Fair, I came upon a SamEdelman national ad that was showing one of the hottest fall shoes of the season….the Killer Heel! Is that not the best name for a shoe….particularly this shoe??? Just look at it. The spikes, the crystals….the suede! I know how I felt when I was in market the first time I saw this shoe – I have to have it! So, whaaalaaa….it’s at Leigh’s! I know you’re dying to have it – haha - get it - Killer Heel – dying to have it. I just made myself laugh! This is one hot shoe that will not go unnoticed. I know you don’t own anything like it so you must have it! ***Oh, a little footnote about the ad. Patrick, our creative director, did doctor it up with a Sharpie. The little pencil skirt and the belt with the “L” for Leigh’s – he did that. I didn’t want my blog to get too racy so I had Patrick cover her up. Fun in New York City! February 9, 2010
Deb Clark and I had a blast in New York last week! We were in the city for the fall 2010 shoe market and couldn’t resist having a little fun. Pictured above is me modeling an animal print sleeping mask at White + Warren, Deb in the Cole Haan lobby – yes, that is a rose in her mouth!!! – , and a picture of the Fresh store on 3rd avenue @ 79th. We had jam packed days of viewing beautiful merchandise! As you might already know from our cosmetic mailer that just went out…Fresh is arriving in our store this month! We met over at one of the beautiful Fresh stores for an overview of this wonderful bath and body line from one of their top educators. It was another successful trip!

This week has been crazy great and way too much fun! Claudio Riaz was in on Tuesday and Wednesday with his brush line….amazing! He used YSL for all of his applications. Our customers loved him and he gave the best lessons on using his brushes to create that perfect look we have all been trying to achieve in our make-up. We had Yolanta in from Nutura Bisse’ on Tuesday, so we tried to keep the volume down while she was giving facials. Her facials are even better than those I’ve received at the Golden Door Spa. Today, we had Michelle in from Trish McEvoy and her chair hasn’t been empty. Everyone wants the latest and greatest from Trish. And we have trunk shows. Bruno (love the French accent) and Lisa are here from the Globe Showroom in NYC and Mary is in from Cole Haan footwear. It is a great week – high energy, familiar faces, new faces and a bright start to the spring season!
Snow Storm Hits Leigh’s December 19, 2008
The weather outside is frightful…lalala..delightful…lalala…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Western Michigan has been the recipient of mounds of snow!! So this is a picture of what we look like when it’s snowy outside. Melissa Hubbel, our controller, took on new job responsibilities today….she is testing our La Canadienne boots. She has reported back that after hours of shoveling, her feet have stayed warm and dry. Do you need boots…Leigh’s is here for you!
