Let’s have a discussion about what you do with your day time purse contents when you go out in the evening. Notice I said “day time” purse? Yes, it is true, the day time purse…you know the big oversized one you carry during sunlight hours…is not the same handbag that should accompany you after dusk. When I was younger, my lipstick, ID and cash would go in my pocket or my boyfriend’s jacket pocket – did you do that, too? Oh, yea, we all start there. But then we transition. The transition could occur because we have become more fashion conscious and realize that this is a great opportunity to add another fabulous accessory to our look. Or it could simply be…we are now married and our husbands have given the “nixey” to carrying our goodies in their pockets. I think a little of both applies to me! So, now that we have established that you and I are committed to evening bags (aka: bar bag – and no, you don’t have to go to the bar to carry it!), I wanted to show you a great option. We just received these great carry alls from 3.1 Phillip Lim. One type has a wristlet and the other your fingers slid under the strap and it’s carried in your palm. There’s room for cash, ID, credit cards…and there’s an extra zip pouch for our lipstick! I know, I know…you love it! I knew you would!

Someone pinch me….am I dreaming?? I’ve waited and waited and waited…and finally…our first shipment of Valentino handbags has arrived!!!! Yes!!! I must confess - I am a handbag junkie. It’s a true statement. I love handbags. And I LOVE buying handbags for the store when I’m in market. I was like a kid in a candy store when I was in the Valentino showroom this past February…one beautiful bag after another. The only dilemma I had was narrowing it down to the ”chosen bags” - which ones would make the Leigh’s cut….not an easy decision! But, of course, the iconic “Valentino Red” needed to be represented. Look at it…it’s beautiful! And black….a must have. Stop in and see for yourself – you might decide your home is the right home for one (or two) of these fabulous handbags. Plus, there are more on the way! Yes, it’s been a long wait, but it’s been worth it ! Finally, I do need to brag a little - Valentino handbags are exclusive to Leigh’s in West Michigan!

Myth #47: Never give a pet as a gift. Patrick has been at it again…our store windows look amazing! Cleverly, he has come up with myths that can be dispelled such as giving a pet as a gift…well, of course you would be pleased to give or receive a ”pet” if it were a Judith Leiber crystal handbag in the shape of a dog. Santa’s treasure chest opens and closes revealing our little pooch. This dog even comes with papers! If you haven’t seen our windows in person, it’s worth the visit…it will put a smile on your face!

Yes, fringe is in this year! This great leather jacket just arrived – I think I need to own this one – it is so, so cool! Speechless…is how this beautiful new Kooba handbag left me when I first laid eyes on it. This is our first time having Kooba in the store and every bag we’ve received is better than the next! We also have new arrivals from Matt & Nat, Cole Haan, Donald Pliner and Stuart Weitzman. We are expecting deliveries from Anya Hindmarch & Judith Leiber any day. A little side note on Matt & Nat (another new name at Leigh’s), it’s a totally green line – all recycled materials and you would never know it – you’ll think it’s leather!
