Pamella Roland 001

Yes, it’s true!  Maia from The Maia Chronicles stopped by Leigh’s today to see the Pamella Roland spring 2010 collection.  There she is in the middle with Deb Meijer and Kenneth Marks.  She is just as tiny in person as she is in her pictures!  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Maia, she has her own blog  http://www.themaiachronicles.blogspot.com   where she details her fashion adventures with her fashionable doggie family. You must check it out!  It was so fun to have her in the store.  Of course the Leigh’s team adored having her visit!!!  We hope to see her again soon!

It’s time for us to head back to New York for market! I can’t wait! It’s hard to believe we’re going to be looking at Spring 2010 already when we are just receiving Fall 2009 in the store. Deb and Kati R will be there next week and I will be there the following week with Judy S and Patrick. I promise to send some tweets from Twitter while we’re there! You can follow us on Twitter at www.Twitter.com/LeighsFashions if you want to stay posted! Also, always an open invite….if there are certain lines that you love that we don’t carry at the store, let us know….we’d love to check them out!

We were in NYC last week checking out resort collections for delivery October – December.  Above is a picture of me at the Cole Haan showroom.  If you’re looking at beautiful merchandise, you might as well have some fun with it.  And, of course, I can be a big ham if need be!  Also, double top secret, but I am going to share with you…we are bringing 3.1 Phillip Lim into our store starting in November.  You’re going to love it!  The rest of our buy will have to remain under wraps so that you have some surprises when you come to see us!

Oliver stopped by Leigh’s with his mom, Neva Hundley, last week to see the Pamella Roland collection.  He was such a good boy during his visit.  You can only imagine that with his charm and winning personality, he was not lacking for attention from any of our team members or customers!!!  Look how cute he is!

Shop Locally!

May 26, 2009

Deb Clark was in Birmingham over the weekend and stopped by a few specialty stores.  As she was discussing that she is a buyer for a locally owned specialtiy store on the West side of the state, one of the owners gave her a handout.  The handout was a reprint of letter/article written by the publisher of Styleline:  Metro Detroit’s Guide to Fashion, Beauty and Home. It was a very compelling piece and I would like to share it with you.

Live Here?  Shop Here.

Dear StyleLine Reader:

A local store that you absolutely love is fighting for its life.

Which store? Take your pick.  Virtually every business in metro Detroit has been tattered by this economy.  Some have packed it in.  Others now teeter on the brink.

The power to restart the world’s economy rests in the hands of politicians, bankers, investors and economists.  But saving your favorite local retailer? That’s something you can do.

Before you fly off to New York or Naples for a weekend getaway or a family vacation, do your shopping here.  The clothing, jewelry, art and accessories from metro Detroit’s outstanding providers will be every bit as fabulous.  Actually, the things you buy here are considerably more fabulous because they breathe life into the businesses that employ our neighbors, support us with their taxes and their charitable giving, and maintain the rich flavors of choice in our downtowns and shopping malls.

Instead of making your next purchase on the road, or online, please make it at that local store that you love.

Sincerely,

Dale D. Parry
